I’ll Be His Hands

April 13, 2022      Amy Cady

Sometimes I think we are caught up too much in the pain of our trials and fail to see the blessings. Or once we are through them, do we move on too quickly? I can tell you firsthand – Pain and sorrow are real y’all. But so are the blessings that come when they teach us to be more compassionate and Christlike. They help us see the sorrow and suffering of others. Nothing makes me feel more disappointed than witnessing someone go through difficult times and fail to change into a nicer, kinder person. Don’t let this be you! Instead of being burdened by your trials, let them lift you as you reach out and lift others. For what a joy will be the day when you learn of all the good you did while serving others as Christ would.

With my broken heart I bleed
But now I understand your need.
And so, with words to heal your heart
I’ll stay right here and not depart.
With this loneliness I feel
I clearly now see yours concealed.
And so, I’ll sit right here with you –
Listen to what you need me to.
With my wounded heart and soul
I now can lovingly console.
And so, I’ll sit and hold your hand
Because I truly understand.
With anguish that envelops me
I hear the anguish in your plea.
And so, with humble heart and hand
I’ll guide you since I know firsthand.
Maybe these things aren’t so bad
If they help us be humble and glad.
Help us be more like God’s Son –
The one and only Perfect One.
So, I’ll do the things I do
As if the Savior were here with you.
For, oh, to fathom what he has done –
The magnitude of the battle won!
The sacrifice He gladly made.
His love will never, ever fade.
And so, a simple price to pay
To be His Hands each of my days.

The Savior’s Love {A Poem by Madalyn!}

April 12, 2022      Amy Cady

I challenged Madalyn to write a poem about the Savior or Easter this week. She made several attempts and the computer deleted one so there was frustration. But then later that day she got an excited look and asked for the computer. This sweet gem is what she gave me. 😍

The Savior’s Love
By Madalyn Cady – age 10 (April 2022)

Jesus Christ loves you and me.
So much He died with humility.
To save us from all death and sin,
So that we may someday live again.

Precious Savior – Here is My Heart

April 11, 2022      Amy Cady

Easter is almost here! For many it means eggs filled with candy and fluffy bunnies and ham. All fun things. But I hope you take a moment wherever you are to remember what it’s really all about. About a man who was willing to do everything just right. Not for himself, not for the paycheck or the glory. But because of his love for each of us. And I hope even amidst the sugar craze and the family drama, you let that thought inspire you to be better too.

Precious Savior – here is my heart.
Take it kindly and do your part.
Do what you need to make it yours.
Do what you need to make it more.
More kind and loving, and trusting too.
More willing to do what you need me to do.
More able to recognize the things that mislead.
More willing to help those around me in need.
More willing to follow the Father’s Great Plan.
More willing to do all that I can.
More willing to shun the world’s wicked ways
And follow you always – till the end of my days.
More willing to Heed the Prophet’s bold call.
More willing to care for the helpless and small.
More willing to go where you need me to go.
More willing through hard times and trials to grow.
More full of hope, and loving goodwill.
More willing to climb my own Calvary’s Hill.
And when you’ve molded and mended, and made it all Yours
Protect it and make sure it always adores
The things that are good, the things that are right.
The things that are pleasing in your precious sight.
The things that will lead me straight back to you.
The things that the Father wants me to do.
So precious Savior – here is my heart.
Take it kindly and do your part.
Do what you need to make it more.
Do what you need to make it all Yours.

What I’m Meant to Do

April 8, 2022      Amy Cady

Mom Life is hard at times. Some days are harder than others and I have my moments where I question “What was I thinking??!!” But I know that even though there are other things I’d enjoy doing, or be great at, I’m right where I need to be. ❤

Sometimes I think I’ll quit my job –
Go back to work again.
Find some peace and quiet
Away from all the din.
Get paid for all the work I do
And appreciation too.
Wear something that’s not all stained
Or even something new.
Enjoy a simple bit of space
That somehow stays all clean…
And hide out in a corner
Where I simply can’t be seen.
How much could I accomplish
If this was my time spent,
Instead of all the twists and turns
That make my day all bent?

But I would miss the little things.
I would miss the things they do –
The excitement on their little faces
And their hugs and kisses too.
Knowing that it’s me they want
When they need a heart consoled.
Knowing that it’s me they want
To help be brave and bold.
I’d even miss the little smears
And food stains on my jeans.
And the simple little block towers
That always seem to lean.
Those smudgy little faces
That seek me out all day
Will soon be just a memory
As they go up and on their way.
So, I’ll face my days with Bravery –
The good and crazy too.
Because deep in my heart I know
That Mother’s what I’m meant to do.

How Glad I Am

April 6, 2022      Amy Cady

I am grateful for a lot of things in my life. One I feel especially blessed by is living prophets in our day. How lucky are we to live in a time when a prophet of God is on the earth, leading and guiding us! But not just that. At a time when so many wonderful, righteous men and women live on the earth with us as well, all over the world. Thank you for your wonderfulness. ❤

How glad I am for Prophets of old
Who did the things that they were told.
Who lived and loved and showed the way,
Not just for then – but for our day.
Who took the time to write things down
That in our scriptures they can now be found.
And now we learn from each one of them.
Strong and brave courageous men.

How glad I am for Prophets today
Who lead and guide and show us the way
In a world where darkness reigns supreme
And blessed light is rarely seen.
With courage strength and wisdom too
They also show us just what to do.
And now we learn from each of them.
Strong and brave courageous men.

How glad I am for leaders strong,
Bold men and women who each belong
To the Savior’s church restored
As it was in days before.
In stakes and wards and branches too
Throughout this beautiful planet blue.
Who do their best on most their days,
And lead in brave, courageous ways.

How glad I am for those who stand
With the Son of God – so bold, so grand.
Who aren’t afraid to choose the right
And with their strength, the wicked they fight.
No matter what the price may be –
Each examples to you and me.
And when we choose to do as they do
We become brave and courageous too.

Invitation

April 4, 2022      Amy Cady

Do you downplay the talent within you? Confession – my husband would probably say that I do just that. 🙂 Little by little I am becoming braver, and I hope you will too. The world needs our voices. The world needs our goodness. Together let’s live boldly so when it’s our time to pass on to the next life, we will be greatly missed.

You are a child of a Heavenly King.
Live up to your greatness to do great, big things.
Don’t fear to live and share your own voice
So, the world will mourn but the Angel’s rejoice
When the Call arrives to beckon you Home
And your loved ones are left feeling alone.
Because within is Greatness so Grand –
If you’ll only embrace it and courageously stand.
Stand for what’s right with kindness and love.
Stand on the side of your Father above.
With Him by your side, you’ll always succeed.
So come bless the world with your word and your deeds.
The darkness around will try to stop you
But with the Spirit to guide – you’ll know what to do.
And each bit of light that your boldness breaks free
Makes the dark in the world vanish and flee.
So yes, we need the Great within you!
The Great that God knows you can do.
So, stop what you’re doing and listen with care.
And stop what you’re doing and do what you dare.
For the world is waiting to hear what you say
And the world is waiting for your talent today.
