Hello, Friend!
My name is Amy Cady and I am so glad you are here! If you are tempted right now to read my last name as Caddie, don’t be alarmed. Most people do. But it’s actually pronounced Cady. Rhyming with Lady. Hence Lady Cady.
Now that we have that cleared up! Here’s a little story for your day:
Once upon a time a little girl was born on a warm spring night in Southern Arizona. Thankfully she was born to parents who read often and had lots of books in their house for soon the little girl would grow a little older and love books herself. She never quite outgrew her love of books and wanted to spend her time at the bookstore not the clothing stores anytime she went shopping as an older girl. She would get in trouble a time or two while growing up for reading under the table during dinner. She secretly thought it would be great fun to write books too and she used to write stories for fun in her bedroom when no one was paying her much attention. But sadly, lots of tragic things happened while she was growing up and by the time she reached grownup land, she was quite broken down and went to college to become a teacher because it was practical and safe, and felt like the right thing to do and she knew she could use it to get a job and take care of herself. At first, she loved it because it seemed like a great opportunity to read books and she began a great collection of them but then she began teaching for real and it soon became obvious that it wasn’t as fun as she thought so after three very long years, and many, many tears, she left teaching behind to begin taking care of her own children. She continued to visit the library almost daily and read every spare moment of her time. She continued (to her husband’s annoyance) to build her great collection of books and soon it was said “they were in every room of the house!” She secretly still dreamed of writing books someday but felt overwhelmingly inadequate because of the many things that had been said to her when she was younger and because she had never been taught how to be a writer. Finally, during one those challenging and humbling times in her life, she decided “who cares!” She mostly began sharing poems online about her insights as a mom or life around her while living in the woods and sometimes about her faith as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. But there are stories in the works behind the scenes as well and hopefully very soon they will come to light and be made available to anyone who dares open their pages.
